1. Current Job Opportunities
Q: What job opportunities are available at the moment?
All current vacancies are listed on our Vacancies Page. If your preferred role is not available, you can register for job alerts to ensure you never miss an opportunity.
Q: Can I talk to someone about a vacancy?
Yes. Contact our HR Team by email or phone, and we will arrange for the recruiting manager to get in touch. They will be happy to answer any questions you have about the role.
Q: Can I apply for more than one role at a time?
Yes. If applying for multiple roles, we recommend tailoring your CV and covering letter to reflect the specific requirements of each position. Applications are reviewed after the closing date against the criteria outlined in the Person Specification.
2. Applying for a Role
Q: Can I apply if I need a visa to work in the UK?
You can apply if you already have the right to work in the UK (e.g., Skilled Worker visa). We are unable to offer visa sponsorship.
Q: Can I just email my CV?
No. We only accept applications via our online recruitment system to ensure all candidates are assessed fairly and consistently.
Q: I’m having issues with the online application system. What should I do?

Q: I missed the closing date. Can I still apply?
Unfortunately, no. Vacancies are removed from our website once the closing date passes, and late applications cannot be considered.
Q: What happens to my CV/application once submitted?
Once the vacancy closes:
• Applications are reviewed by the selection panel against the Person Specification.
• Shortlisted candidates are contacted by email to arrange interviews (check your junk folder).
• Candidates who are not shortlisted will also be notified by email.
Q: What do you look for when reviewing applications?
We assess:
• Whether you meet the essential criteria for the role.
• Your CV, skills and relevant experience.
• Your responses to the application questions.
Q: How long does the recruitment process take?
Applications are reviewed shortly after the closing date. Shortlisted candidates are usually contacted within one to two weeks. Timelines may vary depending on the role and number of applications received.
3. References, Criminal Record Checks & Documentation
Q: The job description says I need a Criminal Records Check. What does this mean?
Roles working with children or adults at risk require an Enhanced Criminal Records Check:
England & Wales: DBS
Scotland: PVG certificate
Northern Ireland: Access NI check
This may include details of convictions, cautions, reprimands, or final warnings.
Q: I don’t have a Criminal Records certificate. How do I get one?
If required for the role, we will initiate an application for the successful candidate as part of the offer and onboarding process
Q: What documents prove the Right to Work in the UK?
Acceptable documents may include:
Passport
Birth Certificate with proof of National Insurance
Biometric Resident Permit Card
Q: How are references handled?
References are requested following interview and prior to confirming any offer of employment. Referees should be professional or academic and relevant to the role.
All offers of employment are conditional, subject to satisfactory references, right to work documentation and any required criminal record checks.
4. Interviews & Selection
Q: What should I wear?
Smart/casual attire is recommended. Please avoid overly casual clothing, such as jeans or trainers.
Q: Can I bring notes into the interview?
Yes. You are welcome to bring notes and may also take notes during the interview.
Q: Can I request adjustments for my interview?
Absolutely. We want you to have every opportunity to demonstrate your skills, ability and potential. If there is anything we can do to support you through your application or interview, we are happy to help.
Adjustments may include:
Additional time for tasks or presentations
Conducting the interview virtually where possible
Using a separate room for individual tasks
Providing written copies of interview questions
Providing documents in alternative formats
Subtitles for Zoom interviews
Arranging a British Sign Language interpreter
You do not need to have a registered disability to request an adjustment. If something creates a barrier to you attending an interview, please let us know and we will work with you to find a suitable solution.
Q: I want information in a different format.
Contact HR via email or phone. We can provide documents in alternative formats to meet your needs.
Q: What happens if I can’t attend my interview?
Please notify HR as soon as possible by email or phone. We will do our best to reschedule where availability allows.
Q: When will I hear if I have been successful?
Candidates are informed of the outcome as soon as possible following interviews. Feedback is available upon request.
5. Workplace Accessibility
Q: Is there accessible public transport nearby?
Train: Loughborough Station (approximately 2 miles away) has step-free access.
Bus: The Kinch “Sprint Bus” runs from the train station to Holywell Park, near the SportPark building.
Taxi: Several local taxi providers operate in the area.
Q: How accessible is the SportPark building?
Step-free access to the main entrance with double automatic doors
Lift access to the Youth Sport Trust offices (braille on buttons)
Accessible parking bays approximately 100 metres from the main entrance
Q: Are all doors into the office automatic doors?
No unfortunately not. The main office door operates on an ID pass system and opens towards you. A doorbell is available for visitors
Q: What office facilities are available?
Open-plan layout with collaboration areas and meeting rooms
Quiet room for rest, wellbeing, meditation, prayer, or breastfeeding
Low-impact LED lighting
Accessible toilets and shower facilities
Gender-neutral toilets available
Q: Are there induction loops in meeting spaces?
We do not currently have induction loops in the office or our meeting rooms.
6. Working at Youth Sport Trust
Q: How many people work at Youth Sport Trust?
Approximately 115 employees, plus our wider workforce of 150 (known as our Learning Academy) overseen by a Board of Trustees.
Q: Are there remote or flexible working options?
Yes. Hybrid working is supported depending on the role. Specific arrangements can be discussed during the recruitment process.
